Self-Care : Hair Mask

Aloe Vera and Oil Hair Mask

One of the best feelings in the world for me is when mommy puts oil on my hair. Now, my mom is a walking talking encyclopedia when it comes to self-care and beauty tips. Although she doesn’t really do much of these herself, she tells us to do it all the time! She knows so much, and her advice is usually on point so I thought to pick one up and I am very pleased with the results. My hair has been through a lot the last few years – being a student meant a lot of late nights and then I jumped into teaching and that’s not a piece of cake either. But this mask has shown some great results and I can’t wait to continue the treatment!

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Aloe vera gel (one cube – 1/4 of one strand)
  • Castor oil (one tbsp)
  • Almond oil (one tbsp)
  • Coconut oil  (one tbsp)

Once you get a hold of all the ingredients, it’s super easy. All you have to do is mix them together, apply all over you hair and let it sit for 30 minutes before you wash it off. Make sure you use shampoo (castor oil is VERY sticky!).

Tip for eyelash growth:  Use a clean mascara brush (or cotton bud) to apply castor oil on your eyelashes every night before you go to bed. Castor oil has a lot of benefits, one of them being promoting hair growth. It took me two weeks to notice a difference but I’m excited to see long term results!

What’s your favourite hair treatment? Have you tried any of these oils? I would love to hear from you! 🙂
